the cap of ortho remote is the main button and knob. you can click on it or turn it.
the bottom of the ortho remote is removable. pull the tab to remove the back cover to change batteries.
there are also a pairing button and an RGB LED indicator. refer to further instructions below.

ortho remote comes with two AAA batteries already installed. if there's any need to change batteries, remove base and insert new ones.
press and hold the pairing button on the bottom side of ortho remote for three seconds.

3.1 OD–11
hold OD–11 function button for 3 sec
hold OD–11 function button for 3 sec
the LED will pulsate light blue for 30 seconds indicating that ortho remote is scanning for devices.
confirm on host device. if pairing with OD–11 press and hold function button for 3 seconds. note: if OD–11 OS is earlier than 0.9.5 you need to update it before pairing with ortho remote.

if pairing with an iOS device, follow the steps above and go to settings / bluetooth and select ortho remote.
if pairing with OB–4 tap input to toggle source to bluetooth. when the bt led is blinking blue, OB–4 is in pairing mode. more info.

the LED turns solid green for 5 seconds indicating that ortho remote is paired with host device.
now ortho remote is paired with host device and ready to use. enjoy the music!
how to use

tap the main button tostart playing.
tap again while playingto pause.


turn the main button to adjust volume.
double tap the main button while playing to skip track.
triple tap to play the previous track.
unpair

3 sec
press and hold secondary button on bottom side of ortho remote for 3 seconds to drop the connection with the host device.
the LED will pulsate light blue for 30 seconds indicating that ortho remote is scanning for devices.

sleep
note: after 30 seconds of inactivity the ortho remote goes to sleep. the bond with host device is however maintained. by turning or pressing main button the ortho remote wakes up.

macOS setup

open audio midi setup.go to window > midi studio > double-click bluetooth configuration. 
press and hold pairing button for 3 seconds.
the LED will pulsate light blue for 30 seconds indicating that ortho remote is scanning for devices.
press [connect] in bluetooth configuration. ortho remote is now connected as a midi device.
battery status

tap the secondary button on the bottom side of ortho remote. the LED will display battery level status by color.


battery level >= 60%battery level >= 30%battery level < 30%
battery level >= 60%battery level >= 30%battery level < 30%
battery level status is displayed for 5 seconds.

during normal operation:


advertising mode (ortho remote is unpaired and ready to pair with any ble central)
directed advertising mode (ortho remote is already paired and looking to connect the paired ble central)
connection has been established (led is green for 1 second)
error (led is red for one second after which the ortho remote reboots)
