a selection of keijiro-san's personally
developed tools and shaders which deliver stunning 3D graphics that run at full speed on iphone or ipad. keijiro-san's tool-set and real life experience in performances with motion graphics have been invaluable in making OP–Z
an inspiring live tool for moving images in sync with music.
the weakest point of VJ-ing has always been the creation of content. by exposing the inner control data of the OP–Z and linking it to unity, users can create anything within unity, build the project and just drop it in the app. customizing every single polygon in a performance.
for us at teenage engineering, games and gaming have always had a big influence on our work. in the past, many of us have worked with game development in one way or the other and this passion is still strong with us. it is something we are proud to apply to the music industry. music should be fun, just like playing a game.
with OP–Z videopaks we are able to take this concept to a new level and offer you hands-on control not only over the music, but also the visuals. for this particular project we've worked closely with Capcom® to develop a completely new way of interacting with two of the greatest cult classic games of all time - Mega Man and Street Fighter series.

z-land by eran hilleli
eran hilleli is an animation director & artist currently living and working in tel aviv. he teaches animation at bezalel academy of art & design in jerusalem. he is also one of the early adopters of videolab, and has helped us steer the development in the right direction.
fascinated by simple shapes and worlds that don't exist, eran is usually drawn to experiences that allows plenty of room for interpretation. his work opens the door to faraway lands and mysterious characters inspired by folk tales, japanese animation from the 80s, and early video game aesthetics.

is a small intimate music
and art festival held annually outside of stockholm, sweden. the perfect place for us to experiment live with the OP-Z. together with aspiring architect elis butler we built a square box that fitted a smaller crowd.
inside we placed a custom made table with built in projectors and a smoke machine. the graphics projected onto the ceiling of the room reacts to the musical notes played
on the OP-Z during the performance.
the different tracks affect individual
graphical elements, creating an intimate connection between what what the audience see and what they hear. musical and visual performance were made by jonas åberg, esther lennstrand, pontus winnberg, tobias von hofsten, NSDOS & ultra satan.

anything you dream up in videolab can be used with the OP–Z. just export a videopak and drop it in the OP–Z app. you can load as many as you like and jump between them using the keys on the OP–Z.
this means you can prepare your live visuals in the comfort of your home studio, but you only need to bring your OP–Z to the venue. plug your ios device into the projector and see the big picture.
